I have two cats that despise each other, what can i do to get them to behave, i am quite attached to

Pastela is almost 3 and fergus (both girls) is one and a bit. Every time they see each other they pounce and attack. Last night I found a giant clumb of fergus' black hair sticking out of Pastela's mouth. If it matters, Pastela is a persian/japanese bob tail that hates all animals and is warry of new people. Also she is quite content with sitting on my bed the whole day. Yet Fergus is an active little cat who loves animals (jumps at the dogs tail chases Pastel) but affraid of strangers too. She was a stay kitten I found in the middle of the road once. I dont give one more attention then the other. I feed them the same food, same amount, they even have the same rules. They are also both indoor cats. I would love help on this...they are hurting each other and I cant seam to do much about it.

You could try a reintroduction. Pretend the new cat has just come to your home. Keep her in a room with water/food/litter box. The cats will sniff at each other under the door. Take an old sock and pet one cat with it, and then pet the other cat later and repeat. That will get them used to each other's scents. After about a week, try opening the door a crack so the cats can see each other, but not bat at each other. Give each cat treats so they associate the seeing of the other cat with good things. Gradually let them see each other for longer periods of time. You can also switch the cats in rooms. After a few weeks, let them spend 20 mins together; open the door to the room and let the cat come out on its own. Dont push them together. Again, lots of treats. If they hiss etc, dont yell. Unless there is blood, dont spray them with water. You need to let the hierarchy of cats get done. (the hardest part) Increase the amount of time the spend with each other.

You can also get a Feliway difuser at most vet clinics. They say that it can help calm cats down. It is pricey; $70 CDN for the first time and then $45 a month after until they are okay. It is a device the emits phermones that help the cats relax and can help with introduction. Its not immediate, but they say after a few weeks it can help. (I am using one and its been 2 weeks and it seems to be getting better for my own 3 cats)

Some cats simply will never get along; just like people. If you find that they are hurting each other, you may need to find a good home for one. You can interview people to make sure a good home is found. I hope it doesnt come to that for you though.

Oh..try putting the water and food for each cat away from each other and having the litter boxes away from each other too.

Good luck!

We have two cats and finally had to keep one of them outside in the garage. They just don't and won't get along.

You are going to have keep them separated. Pastela is older, been with you longer and claims you for herself and she doesn't want to share. I have three cats, but if you came to my home you would only see one. My cat Toes is 13 he hates every animal I bring into the house and he attacks all of them, from the kitten to the dog. So he spends a lot of time outside or in my room. The kitten spends her days in the living room with dog who is her playmate. The third cat, Toes absolutely hates her, so she lives upstairs in my daughter's room. Fortunately she is happy to be up there and rarely wants to come out. When she does (she hates the dog too), I put the other cats out along with the dog and I let her roam around for a few hours.

Some cats are cat cats and like having friends around and others are just not compatible with others. I'm very lucky Toes lets me keep the kids. :D

Try dividing your house into territories. If the one cat likes being in bed all the time, make it her territory and leave her to it. Set her up with a litter box, food bowls, and go visit her often. Don't allow the other cat into that area. Don't allow the bed kitty into the other cat's territory.
